Radio Mansfield receives $28117 Grant
26 June 2019 Media Release - Radio Mansfield receives $28117 Grant.
3MCR Mansfield Community Radio Inc. (Radio Mansfield) has been successful in receiving a grant of $28,117.00 from the Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF) to install a repeater at Frenchman's Gap so the Woods Point area can receive our broadcasts.
Radio Mansfield’s top priority, especially as emergency broadcasters, is to be able to broadcast throughout our Shire as we are licenced to do by Australian Communications & Media Authority. However, due to the mountainous terrain and length of our Shire, we need repeaters at both the Northern and Southern ends of our Shire. These areas are extremely prone to bushfires and other natural disasters.
Radio Mansfield’s new repeater at Tolmie (broadcasting on 88.7FM) was commissioned last December and community feedback has been positive.
The installation of a repeater at the Frenchman's Gap site at the Southern end of our Shire (broadcasting on 90.1 FM) will then allow complete coverage of our Shire.
It is planned to have this operating before the next fire season.
The CBF is a valued partner of the 450+ community broadcasters who every day, create important community connections from cities to remote communities. Each year, they grant funds to support content, development & operations and to help in times of emergency. Last year they granted more than $16.8 million to help community media organisations communicate, connect and share knowledge through independent radio, television and digital media.
Radio Mansfield’s grant application was assessed by a panel from the CBF. Successful grant applications scored over 87%. Radio Mansfield’s application scored 100% and was one of 199 received. 136 organisations were supported totalling $4,903,308 in this round of grants.
