Temporary Broadcasting License

In 1995, a group of interested people came together to look at the possibility of setting up a community radio station in Mansfield.

Temporary broadcasting licences were obtained and the station commenced broadcasting for short periods, presenting a variety of quality programs.

On the 15th December 1997 Radio Mansfield began broadcasting as Mansfield Community Radio 3MCR, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from the old station masters house near the railway station in Mansfield.

In November 2005 the radio station moved to new studios in the Café Connect building centrally located in the main street of Mansfield.

He came up with our tagline ‘Your voice in the high country’. His country music program High Country was one of the most listened shows both on Radio Mansfield and UGFM.

Ian Mallyon

Working tirelessly behind the scenes producing all our sponsorship mp3’s. Ian’s promptness, talent and creativity has been a real bonus to the station. Our adverts are as good as, if not better than most other community stations, winning an X award a few years back for the best community announcement.

Marg Seeber
